Our Programme
Welcome to Jamii Stawi
Jamii Stawi – Prosperous Community
Jamii Stawi, Swahili for “Prosperous Community”, is an initiative dedicated to fostering safe, inclusive and thriving communities.
Through community engagement, dialogue and collective action, Jamii Stawi focuses on preventing and addressing sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), challenging harmful social norms and promoting shared responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of women and girls.
Our Approach
Jamii Stawi brings together schools, communities, government institutions and other stakeholders to strengthen prevention, response and support for women, girls and survivors of violence.

SGBV Dialogues in Schools
The programme conducts awareness sessions in primary and secondary schools while providing inclusive Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights education for both girls and boys. These dialogues promote prevention, awareness and early reporting of sexual and gender-based violence among learners.
Engaging Stakeholders
WETEC KENYA collaborates with government institutions, local administrators, health providers, police, the judiciary and other stakeholders to address SGBV and child protection issues in schools and GBV hotspot areas. This multi-stakeholder approach strengthens coordination and collective responsibility in addressing violence within communities.
Gender-Responsive Budgeting
The programme builds the capacity of government officials and budget officers to integrate gender considerations into planning and budgeting processes. This helps ensure that public resources and services respond equitably to the different needs of women, girls, men and boys.
Survivor Support
Jamii Stawi strengthens referral pathways and provides psychosocial support, including art therapy, for survivors of violence. These interventions contribute to survivors' healing, recovery and access to appropriate protection and support services.
Building Communities Where Everyone Can Thrive
A prosperous community is one where women and girls can live safely, access support and participate meaningfully in community life. Through dialogue, collaboration and collective action, Jamii Stawi works towards safer and more inclusive communities where responsibility for preventing violence and protecting women and girls is shared.
